Desktop Organizing Systems

Inspired by Denise | July 2022

There are a million options for desktop organizers out there, but only a few that pass the Tartan test: chic, functional, and durable.

Russell + Hazel/Mod Acrylic

crisp acrylic look with lots of customizable components

Acrylic bloc system: start here and build out your custom desktop set with the matching pieces! It's very pretty, I just did one for my sister in law and will probably get one for myself now ;)

Stapler: very pretty, but not high capacity

File sorter: for small items like mail; pretty but more delicate

Scissors: not a need, a want...but very pretty

These paper trays are gorgeous: they’re a little delicate for kid usage, but fine if it’s only adults using them

Phone stand: seems "extra," but I use one every day in my bathroom and office

Marie Kondo Harmony Linen

chic linen (coated) look; pricier, but very attractive and serene

Single-unit desktop organizer: space for folders, notebooks, post-its, paper clips and small items, and one drawer

Desktop file box: if you want to have a space for long-term projects, this one has a lid and is very pretty

Pretty little pencil cup

Letter trays: good for things that need to be done ASAP (if you file things away, you're less likely to get around to them)

This magnetic bulletin board will be neater (visually) than a bulletin board but will provide the same functionality

Poppin Desktop Accessories

cheerful colors, very easy to clean surfaces, high quality material

Other items you might appreciate

Monitor Stand

A monitor stand will make a huge difference for your space. Not only can you stash desktop supplies underneath, it will raise the height of your laptop, which will relieve strain on your neck ("tech neck") from looking down for long periods of time. I like this bamboo windowpane design, this plain white design from Poppin, and this minimalist clear acrylic one (all below).

Kawaii Project Pouches

These reinforced legal size document pouches are great for holding big categories of things like kids' artwork, in-progress craft supplies, etc.

Filing Cabinets

If you need a new filing cabinet, these ones from Poppin are worth a few hundred bucks because of how well they work. Nothing like a squeaky, hard to open filing cabinet to put you on edge (for me at least).
