Laundry baskets
We get this one a LOT, and I have a LOT of strong opinions here. Let’s dive in, shall we?
Note: these are all genuinely my top picks, and I did include affiliate links where I could to offset my time researching, testing, and writing this ode to laundry storage systems.
I'm not embarrassed to say I own and use ALL of them. Laundry is no joke.
Put this in front of the dryer, and you will LOVE it
I have this one and may get a second one. If nestles right under the dryer for easy filling (you just scoop the clothes directly into the basket), then it has two sturdy handles and also wheels. Yamazaki is a Japanese brand that makes high quality items that aren’t cheap but also aren’t overpriced. They have a crisp minimalist look, last forever, and are easy to clean. I would marry this basket if I could.
Also:
This wagon + 2 of these baskets (one for each kid) would be clutch if their clothes are getting mixed up. Again, simple is best.
Keep by the washer/dryer for sorting
This canvas elevated truck with a divider is expensive but hear me out: I got this about 8 years ago. Use it daily. Still looks like new. The elevated height makes a big difference, more than you’d think. Each side can hold a TON of laundry (which is good and bad, haha). Also low key fun to push a kid around in, although I’m pretty sure that’s not recommended.
Excellent Around-the-House Option
I have a $280 basket from Serena and Lily (yikes), and I swear I like this one from Target just as much AND it’s actually more functional because it’s huge. I use the rim of it for the “items to be worn again” pile, and then I also use it for holding pillows when I’m changing sheets. We use these for clients all the time. Check the wrapping in the store (or once you receive it)—1 in 20 needs to be re-wrapped a bit, but we’ve never had issues with them coming undone if they were good to start.
